As some of you may know, I contacted AJE racing to build a K member for my Mark VIII.
A month later, the K member arrived, along with the Lover A arms.
I went to install it, and I ran into a tiny problem. THE HOLES DIDN'T LINE UP! I'm not talking 1/8 of an inch, I'm talking one mounting hole was off so bad you couldn't even see the body mount hole.
So, I called them, and they sent me another one they said they went over a fine tooth comb with as far as measurements. I get the new K member, and the holes still don't line up. 'The hell? The hole were not quite as bad as the first one, so I had my machinist enlarge the holes, and make sure they were square with my OEM K member. I bolted up the K member, and the rack and pinion. Well, the rag joint on the R&P was about 1 inch lower than stock. No problem, easy fix with a Flaming River U-Joint.
I went to install the lover A arms. Got the rear of the A-arm bolted up, screwed it out to line it up with the strut, and then proceeded to bolt the strut rod to the K member. Yeah right! Even with the strut Rod screw turned almost out of the strut rod, I had to pull the A arm forward about 1.5 inches, to make it reach home, in turn putting 1.5 inches of bend on the Strut. No good.
So I called them this morning, and told them I would just like to return the K members and lower A arms. (now mind you, they were going to send me a prepaid address label to return the first K member but they never did). The gentleman by the name of Jim, tells me: Well, there's a 15% resctocking fee.
Excuse me? 15% restocking fee for a bad product?
He then tells me "We have to pay for our costs, and what's it to say it's a bad K member? I could sell it to someone else, at it may bolt right up"
So, he wants to charge me 15% to restock a defective K member, one they may sell to some other guy?
And get this, he tells me that if I were to ship BOTH K members to him (remember the shipping label), he would make it 10% Restocking fee. Apparently, their credit card processor charges them a 6% transaction fee. 6%? either these guys are hard up for a CC processor, or they are idiots. I do about $500 in sales a month, and I get charged 3% by my CC processor.
I don’t have a problem giving them 15% restocking fee for the A Arms. But 15% restocking fee for a K member that’s clearly defective?
I'll pay for shipping, (though, IMHO I shouldn't have to), but shipping AND 15% restocking fee?
In all reality, it’s not about the money. It’s the principle behind it.
I could become a millionare selling a deffective or incorrect product, and charging a restocking fee.
I have my webmaster working on a website that will show these guys the internet community is not a good place for bad advertising.
Any of you who may have been thinking of getting a K member from AJE, you may wish to think twice about it. Hell, call them up and tell them why you’re thinking twice about it if you have a free moment.

Thanks for letting me rant.
