Alternator question on LS 3.9 V-8

I am about to try to replace my alternator and searched the forum for info and can’t seem to find any, is there any one that has attempted this and is it a big job.

Thanks,

yep - pulled mine out a couple of times.

once you get the car up
- loosen the drive belt, remove off the alternator pulley
- remove the under belly plastic cover, and the side plactic cover (you'll see once you're under there) - small screws and plastic push pins
- remove the electrical connector, and the postive lead (bolt)
- simply remove the three bolts - two screw in, one has a nut on the other end
- then the tough part - turning the alternator around and pulling it out the very tight space in the suspension. you'll swear it cannot come out, then you all of a sudden turn it and it will just fall out....

I would add one addition to Quik's summary...disconnect the negative battery post before starting. Sparks are only good on the 4th of July!!
