alternator

They have reman OEM alternators at O'Reilly's with a 1 year warranty, then they have Ultima reman which sucks. Auto Zone has Duralast but those are iffy. Might get a month out of it or it could go for years. I'm on my 2nd AZ alternator now. The first one lasted around 2 to 3 weeks but the next one I got has been on there now for almost a year without any problems. Lifetime warranty.

If you buy from a brick and mortar store make sure they bench test before you leave the store.

do they fit a 93 'cause it says part does not fit when I type it in the boxes on their sale page, I ask because I have found sometimes when it says it doesn't fit, it really does.

The cobra one fits physicaly but the wiring harness has to moved/altered to reach the different "clock" position of the cobra alternator. Cobra harness is on the other side of the car than the mark.

Max, what's the average price someone here could get one of those for? Also, is it 130 amp?

'96 Cobra 130 amp from Max is the answer. Connector is further towards passenger side, but mine reached without issue. Same serpentine belt, same mounting points. You can also get them polished or chromed on line- same alternator.

I just got one from Ford back in '02 I think. It was about a year after I got the car, and the alternator literally died right in front of my local Ford stealership. So I just got them to fix it. Cost me about $300 bucks  if I recall. Didn't see that one coming. Before the Mark VIII, I was used to cars that took $30 alternators. Technology sucks (sometimes)!

that cobra alt is 130amp and would cost about 150. plus the 60. core charge
