its not swapped to save weight or cut times, its swapped to eliminate the vibrations that come with steeper gears.. you spin the driveshaft faster than stock and it shakes the crap out of the car...

i know thats not the main reason, but it is an advantage.

i read someplace that evert 10 lbs of rotating weight that is removed can = almost a tenth...so if thats true, depending on the diffrence in weight, it could be mabey as much as .2

rotating weight refers to the engine, not the driveshaft, usually.

You are gona be VERY hard pressed to see any gains with a driveshaft swap.

thats more true with unsprung weight. losing weight there is much more beneficial..
