I'm driving a few days ago, hear a beep, check the message center and it says "Check Air Ride System". I hit reset and it goes away.
Now the front is at 26" and the rear is at 28". When I turn on the key, the compressor runs for about 90 seconds, turns off, and the "check" message appears. After the compressor runs, the height of both front and rear is unchanged. It's been sitting for two days, and the height has remained unchanged, both front and rear.
Those of you who know these systems, what's the verdict? I found a lot of information on the search threads, but nothing with these symtoms, unless I missed it.
Thanks for your input.
Geo.

your system is not venting down. when you shut the car off get out and shut the door in five seconds you should hear a click in the front passenger fender well, the front should vent then the back. If this is not happening you have to take out the compressor and free up the vent selonid with wd40 or alike.

Your front is at 26" and the rear is at 28" so, you're not slammed. I would say you had leaking bags but no height change and no slamming, I'm voting for the compressor and dryer needing to be replaced. It's not airing up or venting but it is running for it's full 90 seconds and then timing out but not pumping up. You can check the 4 air lines that connect at the compressor to see if they are all pushed in good but unless someone is messing with you, they shouldn't all 4 be out. Like mentioned above, the vent solenoid could be stuck but it would either go up and stay up or leak down to slam mode, like you see in the sig pic below. It's not going to stay at the same height. Can you take a pic of how it's setting?

Did you just buy the car, or have you had it for a while?

Edit: In his other posts, he's states that he bought the car in June. I wonder if it's been converted to springs.

Almost has to be but I never paid any attention to his other posts. I bet the switch is on and he does have springs. If the air was still connected, it would move up or down or slam for sure and not stay at an unchanged height but I assumed the OP knew if he had a converted car.

if its still bagged it could be that the cylanoids r not opening.. that was the problem i had with my 93 .. i got a wire ran it to power side of cylanoid they opend n car raised right up.

Spending too much time watching Battlestar Galactica? Got Cylons on the brain? :p

Solenoids.

Thanks for the replys.
It still has bags, no springs.
When I exit the car, no click from the right front.

Geo, if the message comes on after 90 seconds, its trying to raise the front end, but apparently running out of time doing so. It doesn't need to vent when you get out of the car, because its not yet up to trim height.

Remember, the front end is the heaviest, due to the weight of the engine, so it'll always be the hardest to get up. My bet would be the compressor doesn't have enough pressure(120 min.) to bring it up all the way, but it could also be a leak....or a combination of leaks at each line connection.

Thanks to all for the great suggestions. This weekend I'll do a little diagnosis around the compressor and see what I discover.

Seeing that your front bags are in the condition they're in and holding air and I mean that as in (they appear to be in very good condition), I would say your compressor just isn't pumping at all and like "American Air" said, if the car is already down and the sensors know it, it's not going to vent because it isn't rising to it's driving height. If you look in the for sale section, you will see a compressor for sale. I think with that, you'd be fixed up. It's still under warranty and was rebuilt by Eddie from American Air, same as mine. Now, to give you an example of what a bad front bag that leaks looks like, see pic below. Note, this bag (air shock) would take two days to leak down an inch.

Turn your air ride switch off and jack the front up and see if your bags look like that when they unfold. If they don't and I don't think they do, I would bet your compressor is shot. Might be running but it's not pumping. After 90 seconds, it times out and shuts off and will give you the "check air ride message"

I received my rebuilt air compressor from Eddie Spinks of American Air Suspensions today. A quick install and I'm now aired up to 28" on all four.
A big thank you to Eddie and the rest of those who responded.
Now.....time to repair the blend door and all will be well.
thanks,
Geo.
