I have talked to a few different exhaust guys in my area ( relaiable performance shops in the San diego area) one told me that a 2.5 system will sound like $hit on my V6 others told me 2.5 is too big, even with my intake. Then another guy told me he could do it and it would sound nice he would just have to put some flowmaster mufflers on it.... Does anyone have a sound clip of a V6 with exhaust??

I, too, was worried about what a performance exhaust system would sound like with the 3.0L. My biggest concern...would it sound like a "tuner"???

While it doesn't have the sound of a V8 muscle car - it sounds great. I installed Flowmaster 40s with 2.5 pipes, and have an KKM intake.

Don't hesitate...do it!

I intend to remove the resonators before spring.

Good luck.

Performance gains??...its like a newly detailed car...seems like it runs better and goes faster!! but I'm sure there is...I think there was some "before and after" dynos done in the early years.

Pop and Ping...not at all. Clean clear sound...but you can hear it always. Some may think it not condusive to a Lincoln but not me. I remember I was looking for a sound chip, as you are, and I phoned Flowmaster to ask. They don't, or didn't at the time, have a listing for a fit for a LS and the tech asked, "you want Flowmasters for a Lincoln?" in disbelief.

I have a Manual transmission too...and the sound is even better with the manual on down shifts, WOT, and low gear decelleration.

Good luck. Don

Thanks for the input, I phoned 01lssport down in Tx and he let me listen to his magnaflow set-up over the phone sounded good I will update everyone after the holiday.

I'd try and stick as close to magnaflow's setup as possible, they seem to have it right. I think Lou dyno'ed 11 rwhp.

talked to another shop

O.k. I'm not beating a dead horse, but I really want to make sure I am getting the right info.
This guy told me he would just install flowmaster 40s with a set of magnaflow tips, use the exsisting exhaust tubing and charge me 400 cash, if it didn't sound good to me he would remove the resonators(sp) he said he did that on a V8 and it sounded great.

Sound is one thing but I also would rather gain performance rather than lose it...Duh... the reason I am doing this is because I think I can save a little money and get the same performance /sound as the magnaflow.

Don't let him us the same tubing. You want to go up to atleast 2.25", the stock pipes are really small. For an extra $150.00 you can get a stainless magnaflow system with an X-pipe in it. Sounds like he is trying to make some money on you. You could also buy the mufflers, tips and x-pipe over the net, have someone bend you up new tubing (2.25") and still come close to $450.00. I would look into it.

yeah I thought it was high too. I'm gonna go at least 2.25 with either flowmaster 40s or if can find a ggod deal on the mgna flow set-up thanks for the input guys.

hey guys i have a ls v8 2004, and i heard that this model came with the magnaflow exhoust do you guys now is this is true....

NOT true.

I had the same problem too with trying to find the right sound with my V6. Right now, I'm running straight pipe with no resonators. It sounds really nice around 2500 RPM's but once you get on it, it sound like crap. It turned my LS into a rice rocket:yuck: I hate it and am waiting for my guy to put them back on. He's gonna try borla next. Hopefully that sounds better.

Like ls4me said, that's not true. Magnaflow does not make an exhaust system for the '03-'06 LS, because the best they could do was a ~5hp gain, which wasn't enough to justify the cost of the upgrade. The 2nd Gen LSes have a very free-flowing exhaust from the factory.

I'm still trying to decide what to do myself. The complete system from LSK looks tempting but the price not installed is a bit much for my wallet at the moment plus I'd hate to get that money and get it and not have the sound I want and performane. Want something that when idling and driving normal you can defiantly notice something is different and than when putting the pedal down it makes people straigthen up and go "what the hell, an LS making that racket." Not the "what the hell" you get when you hear a honda but a good "what the hell."
