I recently had the experience of turning on the wipers on my '02 Sport. The blades went halfway vertical and stopped. Over the next several miles they slowly went past the top and about halfway back down before quitting entirely. I pushed them back to the park position.

I made several calls and acquired a transmission and motor for the wipers. With all the snow and considering that I don't drive the car every day I haven't done the replacements yet. But today when I turned the wipers on they hesitated briefly and then worked just fine for the rest of the ten-mile trip. When I parked I turned them off and then back on and they continued to work just fine.

Comments on the likelihood of the problem being with one or the other---or both---of the major assemblies would be very much appreciated. Any other things I should be looking at?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Isn't true that cold slows down electrical impulses? Could the motor have frozen??

I've seen issues with the wiring connector at the motor on gen II. I don't know if it would be similar for gen I.
