So i went to firestone to see why im leaking antifreeze and my AC isnt working. They said i have a leak in the tank at the bottom or in the hose where it connects to the tank. They wanted 179 just to take the tank off and see where the leaks at. My question is has anyone ever had to replace the tank or had a leak. How do you take the tank out. I wanna see where the leak is. Also could this be why my AC isnt working. Thanks for your input.

yes - it is a 'common-ish' problem.

PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you the procedure to remove the degas bottle - the other procedures it reffers to - removing the cowl, draining the cooling system - are already in the tech section.

like quick said pretty common, the tanks crack all the time.

2nd question, No its not why your AC isnt working, 2 seperate problems there.

Unless the car is overheating...then wouldn't it shut off the a/c? Of course, it would work fine up to the point of overheating....
