as fast as your Mark?

I Had a 72-73 Ford Courier (mini truck) with 302/4sp
It was so Quick, I could race a full size GMC with only 3 gear
Looking back I wouldn't sit in it.

My old talon was quicker.. different breed of car though..
i prefer the mark, much more comfortable..

my LTD wagon with 93 5.0 drivetrain was as fast on the highway. My 1976 Mercedes 450SE with grey market euro engine was almost as fast on the highway. much heavier.

93 rustang lx, primer grey, 80mm mass air, 24lb injectors, 75mm t/b, generic holley performer style intake, e-cam, 1st year billy glidden edelbrock aluminum heads, stock bottom half, 1-3/4'' longtubes, t-5, 4.10 gear, drag lites with 27.75x11.5 inch nitto 555r's.

so wait i can stick that 255 pump and the bright red aeromotive regulator on my lincoln maybe eh?
it ran 12.3 and 12.3 seemed kinda slow after a while

i miss being the center of attention :Bang

none, i drove my dads oldsmobile cutlass ceira... that thing was fun as hell to drive, FWD though... yuck! but i brawled with that car... beat some ricers with it, took out some toyota celicas with it... but i also lost a lot with it as well... but from a roll, against my buddies 94 rustang GT convert, we were dead up all the way!!! i loved that car. but the mark is my only car that ive owned so far... still have to say i picked a pretty good 1st car!

We just bought my wife an 02 Acura CL Type-S, and this thing hauls :q :q :q

all but one of my previous cars were 12 second cars (shown below)

1978 930 turbo
1974 914 / 916 swap
1969 Malibu with a 396

After the swap the lincoln should be well into the 12's

I'm not sure about quick, but for fast it would be tough for the Mark to beat a 1965 Buick WildCat with a 455 cu.in. V8. :steering

I've never realy owned a faster or quicker car than my Mark besides my 97 Conti which wasnt near as fast or quick. But I did stay a Motel 8.

j/k No, the fastest car I drove was a 2004 Lexus SC 430 4.3 V-8 300HP Damn that was fast it was my dad friend who is VERY rich.

My integra felt a lot faster, smaller, and a 5spd. It ran 15.5 at the track, and it took the turns like crazy. In my opinion it was a much more fun of a car. Come this weekend though, my opinion may change, the 80 shot is hooked up, ready to rock as well as an exhaust cutout.

you say the merc was much heavier,
searching online show the 450se to be 3800lbs,/about the same as the mark.

or did you mean something else..?

just curious.

I had one of those, too - a '97 GS-R back in '98. And you're right, they felt like quick little cars, eventhough the best I got out of mine was a 15.8 (my first time ever at a track lol). That little car would keep up with quite a few Fox bodies on the street :Beer

I once had a 91 Geo Metro with 3 Cylinders, ex-wife had to have one! While test driving it the salesdick sayed check out how quick this thing is! I said what, it's a Metro! Ex - trashed the car then dumped it back in my driveway! She never changed the title so I got stuck with it.

Oh wait you said quicker or faster :slam My bad :waving: Nothing better than my Mark VIIIs yet! Not as lucky as some of you guys! :L

Hmmmmm.....lets see here.....faster/quicker:

1967 Plymouth Barracuda Fastback
1980 Regal w/ 454 dual quads pokin thru the hood
1980 Z28 350 w/ B&M supercharger
1991 S-10 w/ 327 5-speed

My 1976 Cougar was faster and had more horsepower and if you stomped on it you could leave patches for what seemed, at the time , 3-4 car lengths( I was 17). Nice, big, powerful, reliable 8 cylinder 460/4V , I remember I replaced the factory carb with a Holley double pumper. I think it was a holley 750. Nothing my friends drove could match that car or keep up with it. Not their camaros, trans ams, impalas, monte carlos, olds 442s, or the one guy with 70 charger. They all laughed when I first got it until they choked from the smoke they were force fed when they wanted to drag along Arsenal street. I LOVED that car. Ah, to be young again.........

thats the long hood style car right.?

If that's for me. Yeah. It was long (seemed like 20 feet) and wide (I think it was 72 or 74 inches across the interior from armrest to armrest) I'd fit five or six of my friends in it and still have comfort room. One of my friends was 6-6 and he could sit on the hood, lie back and use the window as a head rest and his feet still wouldn't go past the hood ornament. It didn't just drive it glided. You could drink your coffee or soda and not spill a drop even if you went over R/R tracks. The only real problem I had with that was the power moon roof, but it had a factory manual crank for it that worked fine. I can't seem to find one any where now except the junk yard. Still, if I could find one at a decent price I'd snag it. It was the best $500 bucks I spent in my life. It was the epitome of "SLEEPER". Real, Original, American luxury with the right blend of muscle.

drove my nabiers jag on the highway and ho man I would love to race one on a nice 5mile strech it would be fun as hell 140+ felt really nice, got to love that airride!!!!!

Lets see.....I've had a few cars that were faster in certain areas. My 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V was quicker off the line and my 1991 Ford Taurus SHO+ was just an all around fast car but other then that thats about it. My 1989 Nissan Maxima SE was just a nice reliable car my 1986 Lincoln Mark VII LSC was just an awesome car until someone ran a redlight and hit me and my 1991 Cadillac Sedan Deville was quicker off the line and had a smoother ride. But overall I'm the most happy with my Mark VIII!

I owned my buddy's 97 5-spd with my..... (drum roll)..... 1989 Grand Marquis!!! You're right, they do feel quick when you drive them though.
