I am losing my mind here.
I cannot all the sudden goto http://www.lincolnmotorsport.com (my site) nor can I ftp to it either from home, the shop connection is fine.
I cannot access it from my computer or my wifes. I called comcast and they said it must be my router or modem, I can get to any other site in the world but the ones hosted on the particular apache server where my site is also hosted, and ONLY from my machine, Everyone else can get to it fine? Heres the 1st trace route results with the router hooked up.

You've got to get on comcast's ass. The cable company's local connection is failing in both trace routes. In the first one you copied, the router is responding fine (the first hop), and then the cable company is sending back a 'hardware error' to your computer...which is not even a valid response to a ping request.

In the second one, the cable company (which is the first hop once you've plugged in directly to it) refuses to respond to ping requests, and then you get all the way out to dreamhost's network, but by that time whatever bad data the cable company is introducing is feeding back and not letting you get any further in to dreamhost.

You need to talk to someone higher up in support who even knows what a trace route is.

Broken Site

Geno,
I seem to be getting all bad hops from my machine to your site doing a tracert. It pings OK and consistant, but there seems to be an issue with the DNS entry. I would contact your hosting company and let them know that you are getting complaints from customers who are unable to view the site. I can get to the site from my machine, but there seems to be many broken links on the site. And sometimes I click a link one time and it works and the next time not. Seems to be DNS related.

Thanks James for the fast response. I just got off the phone with Comcast and it has been recorded and is being escalated as well. They are using this thread as a reference too so if you or anyone else has anymore ideas or suggestions please post away.

Thanks, Geno.

I can access and tracert it fine from roadrunner

choke em with the network cable geno.... haha! what the hell is going on over their with them? could it be they are upgrading their servers maybe?

ComCrap

ComCrap is having issues with DNS poisoning. There are new exploits out that cause the DNS resolver cache to get corrupted and only allow sporadic access to sites from within the network.

As you see from the bracket ( the [] ) the DNS isn't resolving properly. Between the brackets it should read 205.196.216.117

As it doesn't it's a comcast DNS issue.

As you can also see by the traceroute, it's not an issue with all their DNS servers. Basically a traceroute is a set of three pings to every point along a pathway to the server you're tracing to. As you can see some of the pings are getting through, and the local comcast router still knows the path is outside the comcast network. The reason it's sporadic is because some of the packets are getting though and some aren't.

You need to jump on them and tell them to fix their issue.

also draw the second level tech's attention to hops 3, 4, 5, and 6

3 9 ms 8 ms 13 ms ge-2-2-ur01.audubon.nj.panjde.comcast.net [68.86.223.9]
4 9 ms 10 ms 27 ms po10-ur02.audubon.nj.panjde.comcast.net [68.86.210.174]
5 9 ms 12 ms 9 ms po20-ar01.audubon.nj.panjde.comcast.net [68.86.210.178]
6 9 ms 9 ms 13 ms 68.86.211.10

If you read the network node names: ge-2-2-ur01.audubon.nj.panjde, po10-ur02.audubon.nj.panjde, po20-ar01.audubon.nj.panjde

It's bouncing around inside comcast's network until it finds a router that knows lincolnmotorsport is outside the network. They have a severe DNS problem and need to start flushing their DNS caches manually
