I am a HUGE MMA fan. Been watching UFC since the UFC I in Colorado. Ayone else here fans of MMA?

I have a nice collection of VHS and DVDs. I have the first 12 UFCs on VHS. No holds bar, no gloves, it was brutal stuff. On DVD, I have UFC 40, 43, 44, 47, 49, 50, 52, 53, 54, 58, 59, 60, 63, 65, 68 thur 83. I have Pride 1 thur 28 and several of King of the Cage. A lot of footage of several UFC fighters first fights. Including acouple fights featuring UFC refs.

Favortie fighters
Matt Hughes
BJ Penn
Brock Lesnar
Randy Coutour
Big Nog
Dan Henderson
Sean Shrek
Clay Guida
Most of my favorite fighters are wrestlers(freestyle/greco). I wrestled in college. I can identify more with them.

In the past year or so, I have become a huge fan. I would always keep up with PRIDE or K-1 main events, but now its like I cant miss a PPV. The last UFC and Strikeforce PPVs were great, makes me restless for the next ones. Its definitely more interesting than boxing and the fact that a fight can end instantly makes the sport very exciting.

A few of my faves: Iceman Liddell, Hughes, Nick Diaz, Renato Sobral (for always losing big, ha), Jens Pulver, Mark Coleman.

Two good sites to get MMA info Sherdog.com and Cagepotato.com. Both sites always report the big news stories involving MMA.

What do you think of Strikefarce signing Fedor? I think Fedor will drive Strikefarce in to bankruptcy just like he did Affliction.

I usually check out Sherdog, good website and they are getting more exposure now with their ESPN partnership.

I think Fedor is backing himself into a corner. There is always going to be the talk about he is the best BUT.... who has he really beat? I mean, look what happened to Arlovski after his fight with Fedor. Josh Barnett would have been a good matchup but so much for that. After Brett Rodgers, Fedor is going to have trouble finding anyone to fight who will be worth watching.

They say perception is reality, and the perception is that until Fedor is in the UFC, he is not fighting the best MMA fighters in the world.

Fedor is either the smartest guy in MMA or the dumbest.

By signing with Strikefarce, he can clear out all the remaining threats to him. Overeem, Rogers, Werdum. By defeating all three, it will drive his stock to the UFC through the roof. His exposure on Showtime and CBS will help his image in the U.S.A. as the "best" heavyweight on the planet. Which more people will know who he is. He can demand even more money from the UFC. Possibly, the smartest move ever.

Lets say he loses one fight in Strikefarce. He is damage goods. The UFC and Dana White will say "see, he is overrated". The UFC will then try to sign him cheap or not bother. The dumbest move ever.

Overeem, Rogers, and Werdum are free agents after there contracts with Strikefarce run out. All three will take the big money the UFC will through at them.

Overeem hasn't defended his title since he won in 2007.
Rogers was changing tires for a living 9 months ago.
Werdum was cut by the UFC. After he lost to Arloski.

IMHO I think Fedor is more worried about his legacy and having fighters come to him on his terms. As to, taking on the best and settling it in the ring or cage.

Speaking of heavyweights, did you see Todd Duffee at UFC 102? OMFG.....thats all I can say....

Duffee looked good. Expect him to start seeing some much better opponents in the future.
