just wondering how many people on this forum are laid off..i myself got laid off work just 2 days ago & it sucks so much..so im back to looking for work..but yeah anyone else?

I can't figure out if it's better to be looking for work in one of the major markets, with all of their recent lay offs, or in a smaller market.

There are tens of thousands of people to compete with in a market like NY or Chicago, many of which are applying beneath their experience level.

I haven't lost my job, but they are putting the screws to our budget.

Our company had layoffs starting yesterday. I was lucky enough to survive. I would guess around 25% of the company (nation wide) was let go. They said 30-35 total with 8 coming from my office. It is all about survival now.

I haven't been laid off yet but was just told yesterday I will be taking a pay cut. The company I work for is in new construction market and two years ago at my one loction their were 54 employees and today 3 are left. I'm one of the three. Its not lookin to good.

I've been laid off a year (construction), my friend just got laid off 2 days ago (manufaturing)

Medical CNC Machining/Manufacturing here.

Still going strong, and believe it or not.................Still hiring.

Not laid off, but down to 32 hours a week. A few years back, I could work all the OT I wanted.

I'm still employed, but looking. My company nerfed our bonuses over a year ago. My bonus was about 25% of my income.

I've lucked out so far. Both my companies are hiring.

What's really sad is, we can't find people. Don't know if that means all the job hunters in Central PA just suck, or if we're too picky.

Fos what do you do? if you dont mind me asking. I am steady for now I think. (construction Residental) Not a bad hit in Nebraska yet. I still have to find an internship this summer with a larger company. Might be a little tougher this year then it was for the guys last year. many companies that promised postions are retracting. This could get rough.
