Here's the scope, I need a part for my old Lincoln and a used parts place in Grand Prairie TX (using Yahoo maps, it's near Fort Worth and Dallas) appears to have two of them. I've e-mailed them and called them, but they will not ship the part, although, it's not that big of a part.

In short, I am looking for a 1998 - 2002 Lincoln Continental Grey with Light Colored Wood Accents (wood and leather) Steering Wheel, preferrably without an airbag, but if it has one, I really don't care. This model steering wheel should have Cruise, Radio and Climate control buttons.

These are pictures of what it should look like:

(although the second picture shows A LOT of wear)

The part is about $50.00 according the car-part.com and their listing (that's the kicker, they list the part on a national database, yet won't ship it, pretty dumb).

The place is
Your Ford Auto Salvage
4001 East Jefferson St
Grand Prairie TX 75051

Can anyone help a fellow member? Maybe take a trip there or at least call from a local area and see if they still have one and approximate condition (would like one in as good as condition as possible)?

If they do, I'm willing to work out some sort of deal for getting the part and shipping it to me (besides the paying for the actual part).

Yeah, thats what I did as well, I looked the parts up on car-parts.com and called them up. He asked if I needed it shipped and location and then said they don't ship. Maybe it's because I am in NY, but it shouldn't matter, NY regulations only say you cannot buy a used airbag from a salvage yard in state and insurance companies and the like are prohibited from using used airbags for quality replacement part. It has no regulations for out of state, personal purchases.

Err...maybe I'll need to call them up. I could always have it shipped to one of my friends in IL or something and have them countership it to me.

I am in Houston, about 250 miles south of Dallas. I don't get much time to travel to Dallas that much, why dont you ask if they would ship to Houston. Shouldn't be a big deal. If they do, PM me and I will give you my address. I will then ship it to you in Syracuse. (Gotta help out the Syracuse folk. That is where my daughter wants to attend school. :) )

I'll be calling them soon, and I'll see what the deal is and figuring out A) if it is true they won't ship or B) they just won't ship to NY, then I'll need to find a middle man. It'll suck to pay more shipping charges, but oh well. If they won't ship it to me, I'll definately let you know, it would probably be dirt cheap to ship it to you, so the overall cost should be low.

As for your daughter and SU, it's a really good school, the University has taken an initiative to integrate itself more with the city. They are spending millions on building new buildings, facilities and public areas. If she's into design and engineering, they just converted a old warehouse into their new design center on the edge of one of the trendiest locales in Syracuse (Armory Square).

Syracuse itself is not that big though, it has its fair share of problems, but IMO, a Renaissance is about to take hold. Between the elimination of George Pataki as Governer (he has really helped put NY in the deep red hole it is in), the building of some high tech centers and the revitalization of some more downtown areas, Syracuse could very well become a very beautiful city in the next 3 - 5 years.
