i was wondering if anyone knows anything about fibrous displasia? as i have questions because i was recently told i have this in my hip on monday when i went to the er for a kidney stone. apparently i have 2 fractures but it doesnt hurt. so if any of you know about this please let me know as i have questions.

sh*t that sucks.....considering it's a disease it's a very uncommon thing to treate

to be frank it's a disease that replaces bone tissue with fibrous tissue which is not as dense or strong as bone tissue. So your hip will be weaker than say average so always make sure you are'nt lifting a ton and expect that you'll be in a wheelchair when you're a grandpa :/ it's a genetic disease btw.....kinda like my craziness! lol

well i knew that. but my questions were as to how long before i needed a chair, and will it spread to other bones? i know what i read on the internet and thats about it

it's a very slow acting disease...it seems to attract itself towards injuries. In other words if you get a fracture, break, bone spur, or anything of the sort the disease will head that way and replace with fibrous tissue for what should be by bone. You can get a better depiction with Xrays. Try getting FB Xrays done and they tend to be cheaper at a chiropractic clinic. Chiropractors deal a lot with bone functions, diseases, issues, and defects. You can try finding a good one.

My suggestion is increasing your calcium, potassium, and magnesium intake. Calcium preferably the other two just sustain muscle fibers to where they are relaxed and not straining ligaments and tendons (Tendons are muscle to bone and ligaments are bone to bone tissues).

The biggest thing is not to strain yourself which is a good excuse for not having to lift a lot. You will only end up in a chair is you strain yourself and cause injury which will only be healed by the more "rubbery" fibers. Best bet is occassional chiropractic, massage visits (not needed weekly but enough to keep you balanced) which I hope your insurance can cover (I know what insurances cover both) or you can get Doctor prescription for those 2. Making sure you have TONS of Glucosamine and CAlcium is ideal to make sure your bones are strong so they won't be hurt and replaced by fiber tissue.
