worth it? im looking at a 99 el dorado and it unfortunately does have the vinyl roof (which i do not like).

the only other luxery domestic coupes i can think of right now that i like are the older lexus sc400(?) and eldarodo . The eldo's are sleek.

Whats the price miles ect? cars are going for cheap now so if ya dont like the trim pass and be willing to drive to find a nice one in your area.

domestic, lexus?

the car im looking at is a 99 (not sure yet if its a etc or esc), 36k. i think the asking is around 6.2. i havent seen it yet but im told its in excellent condition and almost fully loaded.

I do not recommend attempting to remove the vinyl top. If you don't like it simply don't buy the vehicle. There are many more Eldos without a top than with, you should have no trouble finding one. They drill all sorts of holes to get the shell holding the vinyl to stick to the roof. Also, the roof puts on rust underneath the shell, so just leave the vinyl on and enjoy it.

I think it gives the car a classic and upscale look. Seriously, how many new cars have that? None, as it is unfortunately out of fashion. When I bought my Eldo I spent 800 Dollars plus to have a 1/2 Landau top installed. I asked the shop the same question "What if one day I decide I don't want this vinyl top anymore?" They said that would not happen, and they were right.

Hey eldo, I've always been curious...

What is the purpose of those tops? Is it just a 'look' thing or does it have other benefits like helping to insulate the interior for heat and noise?

I removed mine... Purely by accident. I ripped off while I was on the highway, I don't know where to start to replace it but it looks terrible.
