So apparently a law is trying to be passed in WA D.C. that Microsoft (and other companies) must deport their illegal east indian workers. Reason being is that they are bringing them over here and putting them in low income housing and making them work 60hrs per week for 16 per hour (for a microsoft job). Microsoft's excuse is "We can't find any qualified workers so we resort to this" but yet turn down MANY whitecollar workers whom are MORE than qualified but won't hire them due to "profits" and Microsoft wants to keep as much money as possible by not paying an American...an American wage.....

Hell even at my complex I see greyhound buses EVERYDAY coming in and picking them all up and taking them over to MS, then bring them back...it's like the Illegals at Home Depot (which we aparently have a ton of here) only they get paid more.

MS also threatens them that if the east indians don't do what they are told, ask about raises, or dispute anything they are then terminated and told they have 30days to get out of the country.

GOD BLESS AMERICA! ;-) lol

Doesn't make sense. My company set up a branch in India and just connects them via servers. Why would you go to all the trouble to bring them into this country and pay for all their housing and such.

But you bring up an interesting point - Ann Coulter has often said that the way to solve illegal immigration is to pass legislation that allows illegals to sue their employers for wage discrimination. Presto! No more illegals.

Hell I'd be happy getting $16 an hour times 60 hours a week that's $960 a week. That's almost $50,000 a year. They should set up shop in Michigan people would be lined up out the door and around the block for that kind of work and pay.

not when the work they are doing is usually at a 30-50 per hour pay rate. THat's what a REAL aAmerican would be getting

30-50 sounds like some union wages. I'm thinking the work they do isn't worth that much. Like I said there plenty of states in the U.S. that would kill to for something like that right now

well right now we got the highest taxes in the country. Our sales tax is 10%

But Liberal Seattle---and the rest of WA also---is just a northern extension of La-La land.

KS

OMG, 10%??? that is outrageous, what that does to a local economy...I sold a car today to a Philadelphia resident, and was surprised to learn that he had to pay 8%-it's 6% in the rest of Pennsylvania, but on a $40,000 car the difference was $800 for the joy of living in Philadelphia, which is a pit virtually everywhere in the city limits.

I graduated from Temple and next week I'm fully moving all of my stuff out of my apartment. I can't wait to get out of that liberal :q:q:q:q hole. Walking to class or driving to work on any given day an 75% of the population (besides students) are sitting on their front steps or BBQing on taxpayer money. Now John Street is teaching a class on campus, looks like I got out of there just in the nick of time.

I have a daughter who goes to Temple, going into her last year now, in the film school-she does very well (always dean's list, her overall is something like 3.8 and she gets her brains from her Mother;))

-she was on campus for the first 2 years even though we are only about 15 miles north, but she rarely went out at night-that's some ghetto there, 2 blocks off campus is a war zone. Fact is, pretty much the entire city is like that, though-some areas of Roxborough, Somerton and Center City are still civilized, but that's about it. And, to add insult to injury, they CHARGE 2 extra points on all transactions...really f'd up. We hated that she wanted to go there, she had full boats to a number of very good schools in nice enviornments, but she wanted to go there because their film school is one of the best. She has made good connections in the industry while there, and has gotten credits in a couple of full-length movies for set design and writing.

We are hoping she makes lots of money so her Mother and I can be supported in the manner we have become accustomed to:)...

Even in this part of the country, software engineers, network analysts, and the like get paid nearly that much, and we have the lowest cost of living in the country. 30-50 an hour isn't that much for that job. 30-50 an hour to sit in a room and watch parts turn a corner on an assembly line.... now that's union wages.

+1

or hold a stop/slow sign

I heard those guys get 25-40/hr around here

$15 an hour around here with LOTS of overtime. They prefer to hire women for that. Meets EOE quotas and provides eye candy to actually stop drivers. 2 birds with one stone.

I've lived down that ghetto way before haha, right down Diamond Street on 17th. I minded my own business but wasn't a pushover and nothing ever remotely bad ever happened to me. Girls are different, but the campus is extremely safe.
