I know there was a recall/extended warranty for the '03 model year but i just got a letter from lincoln saying my '05 V8 is now covered for the ignition coils till 10 yrs/100k miles. Also get one free replacement of the valve covers themselves. Great peace of mind when it comes and its almost certain they will fail before 100k. Anyone else get a letter recently? Just wondering.

Is there anything that can be done to possibly get them to work with the First gens to cover the coils, knowing they have problems?

They already did that a while back. You might do a search as I seem to remember a thread somewhere about the coil/valve cover redesign that was covered on Gen I cars.
