Anyone expand on how to this task?

Usually, you squeeze in on both sides of the plastic ring around the end of the connector, and then pull the tube loose. After all this time and heat cycles, the ring will probably break.
(I don't have a 1st gen, so I am only assuming that this is the type connector used.)

Correct. It shouldn't break as long as you don't pull too hard. You might have to wiggle it a little while squeezing the ring.

Its easier to remove it from the other end since its more rigidly held.

Thanks guys, thought it would be something like that. Guess I didn't squeeze hard enough, but that's one of the hoses replaced due to the hack job. Maybe its just stiff since its new.

Well, if it's new, you shouldn't have to worry about breaking the release rings. Did you put a little lubricant on the o-rings inside before you installed it?

I just followed what you said to do, and took 02's advice and did the end by the throttle body. Popped right off this time. Remember, when dealing with me its 99% chance a mechanic did any work. So I wont know about lubes and the like, but I do tend to find and use good caring mechs. Fixing the blown upper heater pipe has been my first DIY success!

if it's never been off it will be a bit tough to get off. just squeeze the clip and
wiggle it around a bit.
