i just got my 20s, and out on the front two, then took it for a drive upo the street, i then heard this loud grinding, the calipers are digging into the rims causing a divit, i called the guy and he said that i need some spacers 1/4". so now i have to wait till tuesday, heres a pic of em on. has anyone else had this problem, the guy said it happens from time to time.

could that be it, i cant get the rear lugs off so i was gonna go to dobbs and have em take em off, i hope that it could be something that easy. any input

how would the front spacing change by placing the rear 20's on? doesn't make any sense to me. it's still going to grind if you ask me

and for the rear lugs, just stand over it with enough torque and break them off, i've done this with several because the old style lugs are known to cross thread on the studs. or do you mean you can't even break one lug nut loose?

My wheels barely clear my caliper, i got lucky with my set. Spacers will do the trick.

Hey man where you live in Tampa? I am over in brandon. Check out the SE Chapter forums; you can find the link in my signature below.

Hey lex very nice wheels! I really wanted to do some black on my black LS. I am convinced that I need trade up now.

it means you have the offset wrong on the wheels - and they aren't clearing the calipers.

Spacers will work - but two things:
- make sure they don't push your wheels out so far that you hit your fender wells (whencornering hard - having the front compressing the suspension and turning)
- spacers can really weaken your front suspension against hits - like pot holes and such. The front suspension is weaker already due to the need to turn, the spacers move more weight further from the turn center - magnifying the effect (like a lever)

What is the proper offset? TIA

offset is the measurement of were the rotor mounting surface of the rim is compared to the center of the rim.

the stock 17" use a 60mm offset - but each rim width (and even design) may require something different.

It's a fine balance to clear the caliper while it keeping it in the fenders. The LS uses an offset similar to many front wheel drive cars. It's good because to puts the weight out in the corners but makes our choices in aftermarket rims harder.

I bought some rims with a 43mm offset per the website but the box says 40mm and it came straight from the manufacturer. What are the black 20's offset? mine are 20's BTW, not on car yet...tires r coming soon

i got it fixed, i bought 1/4" spacers tht cleared the calipers, looks sick and drives real nice, i havent noticed any diff. yet, but havent really drven it. ill post some pics tom.

good to hear the car can roll around again.

eL eS - I live in New Tampa. We should have a local meet.

no doubt we have a pretty good body count out in this sector. We have been looking at apts up there in new New Tampa.

Ive seen at least 4 LS's around new tampa with at least aftermarket wheels. And I dont know any of them. Everything around here is expense. Good luck finding something.
