I heard it is awesome pay but I heard its some crazy labor? I'm going in for an interview for it next monday and want to know what I am up against before I go haha.

Iron worker setting beams and such? Know some about it. Can be very dangerous work if your clumsy and/or scared of heights. Every thing you work with can crush, kill, or maim you in a instant. You will have to walk beams, lean over them to place bolts, align them with a spud, slight welding will be part of it also, along with primering the weld spots. Pension is one of the best if its a union job. Its a labor intense job.

Trip and fall 100ft up, well, it's only a 8" wide sidewalk up their, nuff said.

I have absolutely no fear of heights, actually I love being up high. Everything looks better up there. So yes setting beams and such. I am not very book smart but am good with labor/working with my hands so this sounds like something I can enjoy. Especially since I will be outside a lot? Oh and it is a union job.

Sounds like you will be perfect for it, more mental mechanics then book smarts required. Just keep aware whats going on around ya. Yes you will be outside 99% of the time. See if they will send you to school, or do it on your own for blueprint reading in your off time, that will get you ready for foreman status further down the road.

GL with your interview.
