Its a relatively new addiction for me.
A while back I received an AXE CX Micro as a present and after the few first crashes I have become quite a capable flier with it. I can do pirouettes and hove wherever I want it to inside or out and make it land in my hand.
I have gotten so good at it that its been several months since I have broken anything on it.
Desiring longer distance and higher speed I have started to fly it outside more and as a result the little helicopter has taken some serious spills due to its inability to fly in wind greater then 2 mph (seriously, its just a tiny indoor heli) so I have exhausted my spare parts storage.
My mistake was watching all the You Tube videos of the high performance 3-D helis they have out. Man they can do some insane stuff! Never seen a heli do the amazing crap some can do. Well I got hooked and threw all my car mods on the back burner and spent more then I should have and ordered a full blown 3-D heli that should be here on the 23rd. I cant wait! :wrench
Problem is I did more research AFTER I ordered it and discovered there was an intermediate step I should have done before going to a helicopter like I ordered. So I will prolly crash it allot (usually $20-$30 per crash) and get tired of it soon.
So are their any pilots here that can give me some pointers about the hobby?
I am getting an Art Tech Shark 450. Its a T-Rex 450 clone and actually made pretty damn well for half the price. Full carbon fiber frame, tail boom and rotors. The head and tail assembly are all aluminum too so this isn't some $200 plastic toy machine either. That also means the parts are a tad more then the plastic versions.
I knew enough to order training gear for it but I know its gonna eat dirt.
Thoughts?
Here is what a good pilot can do with a heli just like it.

And here is the one I ordered except I am getting the newer higher performance version with more carbon fiber and better radio.
