ive taking it to the dealer they have changed the tail lights twice saying its fuse related but it will cost about 500 bucks to look at and repair. i need atleast a few weeks got other bills etc, anyone know of a temp lighting system i could use so i dont get pulled over by the cops im almost drawn to even put flashlights back there so it will appear that my tail lights r on any help would be nice

Yeah, find another member on here that lives close and that is good with electrical work. It sounds to me that it is either the brake light switch that is faulty or that there a problem with the wiring somewhere.
Have you drilled any holes or screwed any screws into anything here lately?????
If this were the case, you might have accidentally severed or shorted a wire. Check wiring around any of these places.

Its the trunk harness. Driver's side hinge. Common and yes it affects the brake lights. Peel back covering CAREFULLY and repair broken wires. You may have to strip some back to really make sure they are ok.
This was the very first problem with my Mark. Drove from dealer into the shop's installer bay and they noticed I had no brake lights.

my brake lights are fine its my tail lights but ill try that thanks 98 mark

Both the tail lights and the brake lights are in that same loom. Before tearing into a loom, you might want to try this first.
Remove the four plastic plugs that hold the trunk lid lining to the inside of the lid. The ones that are nearest to the trunk latch. Then pull the trim away from around the latch assy. On the right side of the lid, you will see a connector attached to the inside of the lid. Disconnect this Connector! This
loom powers the neon light on the trunk lid for both the tail and trunk lights. Put in a new fuse and see how it works. Likely the ballast for the neon has shorted internally and that is what is causing the fuse to blow. If your problem seems to be solved, send me an e-mail and I'll tell you how to fix it.
