anyone know anything about Mercury Marauders?

yes, maybe a little (kinda how you drive), id imagine. they have a 4.6 dohc eng (very similar to markviii) and many members have put lots and lots of miles on them, im at 161k on a unopened bone stock 98 4.6 dohc.

Marauders are known to have a few little issues... nothing major...

If you start modding one at all definitely make the rear cylinder head cooling mod a top priority, the marauders are know to cook cylinder 8 if they are modded...

Also they are pretty slow stock, low 15's at best....

In my opinion they are overpriced now, especially at dealerships, I first saw one for 15,000 three years ago(almost bought it, I still regret letting someone talk me out of buying it), with 42,000 miles. Now they are going for around 20000 with 80,000 or more miles (in my area). I looked into to buying one earlier this year before I got my town car. well any 4.6l wont sip gas, but to have a marauder its worth it.

Save 10k and get an Impala SS. More dependable, cheap as heck to upgrade and cheaper to buy. Faster too:D .

But Walter which on was beat up more... LOL...

I've heard it's hard to find as good SS since everyone who had one had way too much fun...

I'd have to agree that SS is a bad @$$ car.

But to answer the first question... I'd take the Marauder over the LS any day..

I haven't heard anything bad about the Marauder....

LS difficult to mod... Marauder options are there.

I hope you're referring to the 94-96 Impala SS, those cars used to be my dream car, unfortunately it's hard to find an original in good shape that hasn't had the piss driven out of it. Everyone likes to buy the Caprice and make it look like an Impala, which I absolutely hate.

I still love those cars but I'd rather buy a Marauder!

Granted if the price was right, I'd take it.

I read an article in a car audio and electronics magazine where a guy had taken his SS in to a shop. He had the motor completely torn down and built-up, supercharged and tuned. He liked the work the company did so much that he turned around and bought the company. And why did you go to so much trouble, because he was tired of getting smoked at the light by his wife in her little foreign sports cars!

Obviously look for general wear and tear, interior condition, exterior condition etc...

Panthers really don't have any issues that need to look out for all that closely, if it looks good it probably is good.

My same reason for buying a Marauder, minus the wife.

MSD has a new improved optispark just so ya know. Marauders are cool, just way too expensive right now.

the one i am looking at has 41xxx miles and they want 16000 for it, 18+ with extended warranty, is that a good price.
