anyone know how to read vin's?

1 bought a 1979 lincoln collector series,not sure of the eng.size ect.
is there a sight that i could go to that would help me figure out some of thers
details? thanks

Hi Duckfart

It will have the 400M, engine code "S" in the VIN #, silver air cleaner.

Your VIN #will be like this 9Y82S700000

9 = Model Year 79
Y = Assembly plant (Wixom)
82 = Body type (82 4 Door, 81 2 Door)
S = Engine (400M)
Last six digits is the car number
