Anyone paint the factory grille?....

Has anybody painted the black part of the factory grille to match the cars color? If so I know you wouldnt be affraid of shareing a pic.
 
Ok so I guess nobody has done this yet, does anyone want to try a photochop of a factory grille painted to match a silver sport ( close up preferably ....please)? I wanna try it with my old grille the things just sitting around and I doubt any errors will do harm, Im leaving the chrome alone.
 
I have seen that on numerous LS's. Check Cardomain. I have seen them on there quite a bit.

I painted mine to match my car. My car is black so it wasnt too much of a change but I think it looks great. It took a while to mask off all the chrome trim but after that it was a few coats of color match automotive paint and it looked great.... not sure how it would look on a lighter color car though. Give it a shot.
 
Dude, the grille is 2 pieces.

I might gloss it black or get a off gray that might sit just right with the silver. But I wanna get somone to photoshop it first in silver.

2 Pieces? That's news to me. I've always seen it sold as one piece.

And "dude", lots of people have painted their grilles. Do a search.
 
I did a search and came up with nothing and my chrome comes off right at the clips, I have no clue what you think your talking about, maybe the Mc Laren? I seen lots of those painted and they are 1 piece, Im looking at mine right now but the factory one comes in 2 on a first gen LS. Maybe thats the confusion.

Dude not all grills are 2 pieces. Mine is not, for certain. Some 03+ grills are 2 piece, some are not. The lucky ones get the 2 piece... that way you could take the 06 LSE grill and your 2 piece 03+ and make an all chrome grill. Looks pretty sweet to me. But I got a one piece grill. I cant say for sure on the gen 1 LS but I am pretty sure ford mixed one & two piece grills for all years.

Take a look at the links below... some have painted grills, some have chrome grills, some have mclaren grills. There are pictures of grills painted to match a non-black LS on this site. I have seen them but dont recall the user of the top of my head. Spend some time searching and you will likely find what you are looking for.

Ok I'm back. My 02 appears to be a 2 piece grille. LMAO!
Would look sweet painted tho. Hmmmm...

Take a look at the links below... some have painted grills, some have chrome grills, some have mclaren grills. There are pictures of grills painted to match a non-black LS on this site. The 03+ have chrome the whole way around the trim.
1st gen ( thats what I own) has the chrome on the top wich is why it would be 2 piece. I guess.

Damn links, thanks for them I swear i couldnt find anything but I searched up and down very quickly, I seen a grille that apeared to be painted on a silver LS but it was just my monitore I think or just the pic quality. Anyways it looked good. The center wasnt exactly silver but a light grey.
 
No wonder why I didnt find any, there still aint a single factory 2000-02 grille with a painted center in any of those links.
 
i take some armor all for my STOCK 2000 grill and it makes it loook real good. also i've only done this once since i've owned it and its still shinyish black.
 
I did that once to looked good. I used tire gell and took the whole thing off and it was a pain but in the end it looked nice but i got my McLaren about 3 days after that and it sat in the outside storage for a long time so now it looks like ass, well it did I just cleaned it up good and I am really thinking of just going for it. I just cant decide on the color, Gloss Black, off grey type color????, or Silver to match the car.

didnt your your buddy with the mirrors (LSVDEMON?) have a silver car, with a McLaren grill that was unpainted :shifty:.

just wondering cuz your post remind me of him, I wonder what happened to him?
 
Buddy? He was on my friends list on CD, now thats gone to. I looked for the comments that fl what ever guy asked me to drop a link for, his page is gone.

Im not trying to paint my Mclaren grille, im trying to paint my factory grilles center.

Any one got a good way to clean up the chrome on the factory ones?
 
I bought the 2006 LS Grille which is the same as the 03-05 LSE...but i got bored of the crome so i did Blacked out the chrome with some Satin Paint

That looks better than a Mclaren IMO, what do you think about the silver match with the two pieces?
 
I like the way the mine is painted silver on the two pieces would be too much paint on the front and it wont mean anything
 
Just paint the chrome and leave the rest alone?

Im thinking on a 03+ grille but Im not sure what one( LSE or not). Im sick of this McLaren one.
