Ok I played w/ the tire diameter calculator and the stock 235/50/17 tire is 26.25" the 255/45/17 is 26.04". To me that would be indectable to the eye for visual appearance. I was hoping to get a little wider tire but not lose much in overall diameter. If anyone is running the 255/45/17's can you post some pics? Also any rubbing issues? I think that size would give the car a little more muscluar look. Thanks for any input.

I have in the past but no pictures. No issues other than a slight MPG loss and slightly reduced turn-in response due to the wider tire section. Yes, it did.

I believe this pic was taken when I was running 255/45 17's. I think these were Kumho's at the time. Loved that size. Handing was better and it looked great. Slight variance in the speedometer, but not significant. I have another LS not that came with the stock 235/50/17 and when they are done I am going back to the 255's. No rubbing problems ever. 105_0191.jpg105_0188.jpg

That's great, my car is the same color. Love the way that looks. Ok, I'm sold gettin the 255/45's...

Cool! The wider tires improved the handling too. I also noticed a small decrease in gas mileage. But I would give that up for the look and handling improvement. I thought the tint and the blacked out chrome really made the LS look sharp in this color. Unfortunately my wife was hit while driving this car last year and the car was totaled. I grew to really like the color and I do miss the car. Now I have a black '00 LS and even iwth the dings and scratches it has I get more compliments on it than I did with the gold one.

That stinks it got totaled out. Glad you here able to replace it. This is my first LS and really liking it so far.

While not 255s, I have 245s that have the rim protector sidewall so they look pretty menacing. Follow the link below to see pics of my 245/45-17 Triangle TR-968s

One more thing. When you go to wider rubber in the front, take it easy with the tight turns in the parking lots and U-turns. If you get tires that are really sticky, there won't be the slip that you get with the stock tire. That could cause a bit of binding depending on your tire pressures.
