Title says it all. If so, please tell me your setup. I'm currently running two amplifiers (mids and bass) probably totaling around 2.5-3000 watts (maybe less) I'm putting my 16" electric fan in tomorrow that pulls around 16-19 amps. Would I looking at an overstressed alternator down the road if I put it in? Thanks.

well look at it this way, if your amps are really that powerful, they require 178 - 214 amps of power... alone. (hell, maybe closer to 270a depending on how efficient the amps are...)

I would say that your alt is already over stressed without the extra 20a that fan would require.

at what point does the alt just give up and sh!t the bed? dont know, guess it depends on how hard/often you push it.

On a 1st Gen you'll overstress the alternator. The reason for the hydraulic fan was the close-to-peak electrical system.
