anyway to trick the compressor to come on...

i need to get the car on a trailer and the front of the car is sitting on the ground with a supposed hole in an airbag. The rear is at ride height. Does the car know there is a problem with the front bags and preventing the compressor from coming on?

Is there a way to trick the car into pumping the fronts up?
Or a manual way to get air into these bag?
 
Sit on the front for a few mins. Then when its in the air, turn the air ride off.

But if there is a big hole, it may not work. The front wont hold air if there is too big a hole.

If you are having it towed to be fixed, dont. Is an easy fix you can do yourself much much cheaper then having it done.

Buy new air struts from either of the companies listed on the right of this page - strutmasters ot arnott -- both are good.

Even if your not mecahnically inclined, but the struts yourself and have them installed by pretty much any mechanic (I would avoid dealerships) - You'll save a ton of money.
 
You could try puttin some epoxy or urethane sealer on the hole and put duct tape over that to see if it will hold air.
 
In automotive terms, replacing the airstruts is a very simple job. It can be done with regular hand tools. If you're even vaguely familiar with mechanical work, you really should just replace it yourself. The hardest part will be lifting the pancaked Mark off the ground.

how does one 'sit on the front'?

i'm buying this car and need to get it on a car hauler.
Is there anyway i can tell if the compressor is still good? i really have no history on the car. How do you activate the compressor?
 
you dont 'activate' the compressor - its automatic.

How do you sit on the front of the car? Well, you stand with your back facing the front of your car and then bend at the knees and hips.

You could jumper the relay at the compressor. But that won't open the solenoids to let air into the bags.


If your into electronics you could use a varaition of this schematic to "tap" into the suspension computer and get air to the front. If this interests you, let me know, and I can provide the directions to get this in temorarily.


You MAY even be better off replacing the bags with coils. You could even do it where it sits.

The car is apparently already on the ground, AND maxed out, so sitting on it will do nothing. If that is the case, and the compressor is NOT turning on. I would say it's toast. If they let it get bad enough to drop all the way down, your chances are.....it's bad.


Arnott, Strutmasters, and AmericanAirSuspension are GOOD sources for parts.

could the trunk switch inadvertanly been switched off ??
it's underneath the rear shelf, right?

ya, the front is as low as possible, all i know is that it was ok in March.

is there anyway to run compressed air manually into these bags?
 
Yes, there are a couple of different ways to do what you want.


On my 95, I have the switch setup I posted earlier, and a spare dryer with a tire schrader valve connected to it. if I get in a jam, I can swap the dryer out real quick, hit the switches to open the solenoids, and fill it with air from a shop comressor.

You can't just apply air to them, the solenoid has to be opened to allow the air into the bag. (hence the switches i have installed.) Have you tried getting the compressor to come on? if it's not working this is all pointless untill you do.

i moved the car in a parking lot, and the compressor did not come on.

Or the compressor relay could be bad!
