i found a guy with an AODE trans that is rated up to 700 horse power a 3000 rpm torque convertor and a trans cooler. i was wondering if the trans would mount right up in my car without any problems or what i would have to do.

i was also wondering if it was a good price he seems straight forward and he wants 600 he said the trans needs a clutch pac and i might just want to have someone go through it. brand new convertor and good trans cooler.

thanks, nick

Why would he say that unless he is saying something is probably messed up. Suggest you educate yourself on the TOCCA write up.

what is that and he was pretty much sayin if i dont know anything about transmissions to have someone do all my work for me and to make sure its all good. but do you know if it will mount up easily or no

It has always been my understanding that those 'built for high horse power' transmissions are unsuitable for stock applications. (due to higher internal losses etc)

If it "needs a clutch pack" that sounds like it needs a full rebuild. Which means it's a essentially a core. If you get some more info on it and what exactly it needs, maybe we can give you more detail.

Regardless, an AODE will bolt up to our 4.6 - with one issue. Our 3 bolt starter will not bolt to the AODE, and the 2 bolt starter that we tried (I believe we tried one for a 302 Cobra) had the solenoid run into the extra tank on our oil pan. So if you can find a 2 bolt starter that has a solenoid that does not hit the oil pan, you'd be good.
