Ok guys. after my survey I have decided to go with new OEM struts with new solenoids from american air. When I do the swap on these units is there going to be some other parts I may want to have on hand so I can do this in one stroke? Control arms, bushings, Etc .... Its a 97 lsc with 96000 miles, I can only imagine some of the front end components are shot? Give me some feedback

Once again thanks in advance

you might need lower control arms....depends if the lower strut bolt comes out, before you start take the nut off and see if the bolt moves out of the arm, sometimes a BFH helps. but living in indy you see snow (like me) and when i tried to replace one of my struts that bolt wouldnt come out no matter what i tried and i had to replace the lower arm to change the strut

Get a can of PB Blaster, hit every bolt and nut with a small squirt the day prior to the swap, you may want to replace sway links, srbs, tie rods, ect ect, check all joints there shouldn't be much play in them...if so, plan replacement...most of our stuff wears out around 60-65k, unless you're lowered, which causes things to wear prematurely

its 13 years old, all that stuff lasted this long, rebuild the whole front end now and get it over with, the ride will be amazing, and you'll go another 6 years at least before you have to worry about it again, get new lower and upper control arms, new strut rod bushings, new sway bar end links and new tie rods, its worth every penny you'll spend, not to mention peace of mind knowing its all new and be problem free for years.

as jamie (BAD97LSC) said use plenty of pb blaster and let it set for a day. a blue flame wrench used properly and carefully helps. after getting it back together have it 4 wheel aligned.
