Argh, my door isn't even open!

Yeah, my car thinks that my door is open the whole time driving...so when I stop, the interior lights come on I can't lock the doors...Even more annoying, when I park, light stays on but eventually turns off.....Its been a couple times after driving, my car decides that the door is closed and locks the doors...BTW...I have a 95 Continental

Any ideas why and if its fixable w/o taking it to the shop...

Any recommendations?

yup, the wd40 trick works wonders on ford door ajar switches.. which contrary to popular belief are not mounted on the door jam, but on the door latch itself..

after a while the wd40 will need to be done again. the real fix is to pull the door panel, then the latch (or just the switch if you can), clean it up good, lube it carefully with a lube safe for electrical components, and reassemble.. real pain in the butt most of the time. WD40 is quicker and works too!
