From John Carlson's article in Des Moines Register:

"Media is enemy's best weapon":

"Hello, media, do you know you indirectly kill American soldiers every day? You inspire and report the enemy's objective every day. You are the enemy's greatest weapon. The enemy cannot beat us on the battlefield so all he does is try to wreak enough havoc and have you report it every day. With you and the enemy using each other, you continually break the will of the American public and American government.

"We go out daily and bust and kill the enemy, uncover and destroy huge weapons caches and continue to establish infrastructure. So daily we put a whoopin on the enemy, but all the enemy has to do is turn on the TV and get re-inspired. He gets to see his daily roadside bomb, truck bomb, suicide bomber or mortar attack. He doesn't see any accomplishments of the U.S. military (FOX, you're not exempt, you suck also).

"Let's give you an example. A couple of days ago we conducted an air assault. We lifted troops into an area for an operation. The operation went well and our ground troops killed (insurgents) and took several prisoners, freed a few hostages and uncovered a weapons cache containing munitions and chemicals that were going to be used in improvised bombs.

"The next morning I woke up and turned on Armed Forces Network and watched the NBC nightly news. Nothing, none of that reported. But the daily car bombs report was reported, and the file footage was not even from the event. There was a car bomb in the Sadr City area and your news report showed old car bomb footage from another part of town, from some other time.

"So we really set the enemy back that night but all the enemy had to do was turn on the news and be reassured that the enemy's agenda (objective) was still going to be fed to the American public.

"We, the soldiers, keep breaking the back of the enemy. You, the media, keep rejuvenating the enemy.

"How hard would it be to contact the Public Affairs Officer of the 1st CAV. 36th CAB 25th ID or the Marines and ask what did you guys accomplish today--good and bad?? How about some insurgent blooper videos? Now that would be something to show on the evening news.

"Media, we know you hate the George Bush administration, but report both sides, not just your one-sided agenda. You have got to realize how you are continually motivating every extremist, jihadist, and terrorist to continue their resolve to kill American soldiers."

I agree! But let's add congressional democrats as the enemy's best friend as well. Both are directly responsible for American casualties in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Both have blood on their hands but they are willing to dismiss it and put their political agenda ahead of our troops welfare.

Let's analyze your post thoroughly, shall we?

You obviously prefer to take the opposite side of this issue, which means you appear to defend those who would undermine our troops and our country. Either that or you just have a big hardon for me and try to disagree with everything I say.
That was page on [sic] of google news.
Google news is part of Google, which everybody knows is HEAVILY slanted toward the LEFT, as dictated by its ownership. Dare me to dig up all my information that proves this?
There are officers on both sides of this debate.
And your point is? This shouldn't even BE a debate. Everybody should shut up and get behind our troops and pull for victory and stop arguing over whether or not we're winning. We will win the war; we're the USA for crying out loud.

The officers who publicly undermine the troops on the ground are wrong and unpatriotic. But they are also uncourageous, considering it isn't easy to go against the grain of the driveby media's constant drumbeat of failure and defeat, as fed to them by the Democrat Party and...swallowed by sycophants such as you.
Dont act like every word a military offer utters is gold.
Those words that that officer I posted were gold because they were true. The words of your post were false and defeatist. You obviously don't know your history - America has NEVER lost a war unless she gave up. That is an incontrovertible FACT.

Yes, there r officers on both sides, but the vast majority would agree with the article Fossten posted. And these people have a much better grasp of weather we r winning or not

Actually - Im only posting that there are officers on both sides --

You (Fossten) tend to only post one side of things and acting like its written in stone -

Someday you'll realize there are no less then 3 sides to every political story - 2 public sides and the 3rd side we'll never hear about - (which is usually the truth)

Maybe if the majority of people who get their "news" from television cared more about the NEWS instead of 24 hour coverage of Paris F*cking Hilton, the networks would get a clue. Case in point: I was watching FOX some day earlier this week during the day and they were interviewing some guy talking about immigration, when all of a sudden he was cut off so that the network switch to a live shot from a helicopter showing Paris getting in her car. It makes my blood boil to think that there are executives working for these companies who think that this is the most important thing we need to see.

You people still don't get it: The networks give us what sells advertising time, not what people should know. Violence, bloodshed, death, destruction sells. Period. They've long since ceased to be providers of a public service and have become entertainment conglomerates.

Now it's non-stop coverage of the Duke rape case prosecutor. Who F*CKING CARES?!?!?!?!? If you do, you're part of the problem.

I do agree with you there -

I am sick of Nifong, Paris, brittany, Anna Nicole and the bunch of other things that are really non news.

Why cant they leave most of that crap to Entertainment tonight?

Sensationalism in news has been around for the last 25 years. And speaking of crap, I wish the drive-by media would stop broadcasting the likes of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi's constant complaining--After a while its non-news as well but the media eats it up anyway.

I watched the events unfold in the Anna Nicole situation--so what! You know what the libs say--If you don't like it change the channel. Oh wait, that's been change to: If we liberals don't like it we'll try to force you off the air (i.e. Democrats in Broward County, Florida are trying to force WIOD AM-610 radio to drop Rush Limbaugh) I guess the democrats in Broward County can't wait to implement the so-called Fairness Doctrine.

Has Hell frozen over?!
I have it on in the background probably 50% of the time. It used to be more but since I got HD I'm hooked on Discovery --- American Chopper RULES. Besides the entertainment value, I find it a valuable source of material so I can prepare for what you right-wingers are gonna be talking about the next day. ;)
