ashtray removal

So I'm trying to fix the cig lighter door panel which won't stay closed, and I'm following directions I saw here...

How do I remove the sliding ashtray under the lighter module? The ashtray slides in and out on a track...can't seem to find pins or latches that would release it.

on the 02 IF you talking about once you have it in your hand disconnected from the car..... there are little clips that hold it in and I pulled mine on the sides to pull the bottom (base fromt the sliding part) and it pulled apart

i'm trying to remove the sliding tray from its tracks.

yeah I pulled on both sides and it freed the tray from its tracks....

it feels pretty snug in the track...I'm hesitant to pull harder. the little liner tray popped up easily.

you can pull really hard, or pull the trim piece off around it(just prys off) and then unscrew the 2 screws holding the unit in.

FWIW it's this piece I'm trying to remove. The harder I pull the more I think there's just a little tab or something holding it in its tracks.
