Hey Guys/Gals,

I have a dealer's license I buy and sell used cars with. I was planning on buying a LS for myself at a dealer's auction cause it's a lot cheaper to buy it that way. I was just wondering if there would be a quick way (By examining the car before it goes thru the auction) for me to find out if the gaskets have been replaced and/or the COPs have been touched...? That's very expensive to fix and seems to be a common problem for the 2000-2002 LS. The only thing I can do before it rolls thru the auction is start the engine, maybe put it in gear and visually inspect it. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, everything is hidden. You'll have to remove a plate on each side to access everything. It took me about 30 minutes just to remove the driver's side plate a couple of days ago. It is an expensive fix. My LS is sitting at the dealer now getting the valve covers replaced.

So the warranty for 2000-2002 was 50K Miles/4yr warranty right?
