So I checked my manual and it says the COMP button has to do with CD Compression. When I push COMP, I get to choose which DSP Mode I want and if I cycle using the SEL button, it displays DRIVERS SEAT or REAR SEATS. What exactly is this function?

You are selecting the occupancy mode for sound output. Based on your selection, audio will be optimized depending on your listening position within the car.

Thanks! Sure would have been nice if the OM had said that.

It does.

From the owner's manual:

5. COMP (Compression): In CD
mode, press to bring soft and loud
passages together for a more
consistent listening level.

3. DSP (Digital Signal
Processing): Press DSP to access
the Ambiance menu. Ambiance gives
the feeling of “being there” to your
music, creating increased clarity as well as an open and spacious feel to
the music. Press SEL to engage/disengage. Turn the volume control to
increase/decrease the level of ambiance.
Occupancy: Press DSP again to change the occupancy mode to optimize
sound for ALL SEATS, DRIVER SEAT or REAR SEATS. Press SEL to
scroll through settings.

Except of course, I have a COMP button, not a DSP button. The Alpine units have a DSP button where the non-Alpine units have the COMP button. That is the only visual difference other than the word Alpine being silk-screened on the CD Door. My COMP button gives me access to DSP functions such as NEWS, etc.
