Audiofile Upgrade Assistence needed

I've search the forums for an answer with no luck. Can someone answer this question for me?

I have an '02 LS with the audiofile system that comes with the rear sub/subs and amp. Is the factory amp that is located under the rear deck a 1 or 2 channel amp? I would like to ungrade in stages so I'm wondering if this amp will drive a new pair of 6x9 speakers until I can replace the rear amp? Does both the left and right channel run from the factory HU to this amp harness? Also, will I need anything special to interface with the harness when I do replace the rear amp?

The amp for the rear sub is under the rear deck between the subs.

It is a single-channel - 80w

The trunk connector (on the drivers side) is number C465 and the sub audio uses these pins:
1 = yellow/red: switched hot
3 = shield for low level audio signal
5 = red: constant power from battery junction box fuse F418 (20 amps)
7 = white/red: low level LEFT audio signal
8 = grey/red: low level RIGHT audio signal
