Auto-dimming mirror "melted" ?

The interior mirror on our 00 LS looks like it kinda melted, or whatever it is that makes it auto-dim broke inside the mirror. Any idea?
It is VERY hot and HUMID here right now, so I don't know if the xtreme heat screwed it up some how.

Any advice?

common issue - the liquid inside the mirror fails. Nothing you can do to fix it except replace the mirror.

Try Ebay, Sometimes The Pop Up For Like 25 Bucks.. Sure Beats The Dealer For 250

I called the dealer and they said it would be $108.
I saw one on ebay but it said it was only for an 01.

What model years mirror will work with our 00? If I get one with a compass will it work in ours (it doesn't currently have a compass) ie. is the wiring in there already?

How will the new one install?
Will I have to remove the whole base unit with the rain sensor in it or what?

You have to have the compass module that goes with the mirror.
