some are not bad, the ones out in my area actually hire people that know what they are doing for the most part.

Ok - while on my way back from picking up my 94 Mark VIII from 94m5's place. The change oil message came on. So I thought.. Well I could stop at an Autozone on the way back and get oil.. Autozone can't screw up oil!!!

Well yes they can!! - Do they only hire idiots at Autozone?? Are they Wal-Mart Rejects? And this guy who waited on me wasn't a punk HS kid but a full blown (or never blown) adult in his 40's....

So here it is I pull in am asked if I needed any help, I figured no! how hard is it to pick up oil. So I go back and look for Mobil 1... but no cases...

So I ask for help... Could you get me a case of Mobil 1 synthetic oil.

The guy goes back - and asks what oil I said Mobil 1 sythetic he point to every Mobil product but Mobil one. I walk up and have to show him.

So he goes to the back and then comes back and says we don't have a case, would it be Ok to put the bottles on the shelf it into a different box?

I tell him sure that's fine... Are you sure he askes... Like what is a different box going to do?

Autozone!!! there's nothing like it!!!

do not forget about the idiot customers that think the box makes a difference. It changes by osmosis you know.... LOL
People really are that dumb by the way and will go back to complain with out looking in the box...it is really sad.... he was smart enough to cover his a$$ by asking and he was comply trusting you since he did not know anything about it.
What is really scary is you will go back in six months and the same guy will think he knows everything. That is when he really gets tough to deal with...

When I was finishing up my TC and found myself buying all kinds of extra crap to finish, I was amazed that they could get everything for a 84 next day. Gas tank even asked if I wanted the straps too, next day, radiator, next day, injectors the odd CFI ones, next day, TB rebuild kit next day, a/c dryer, next day.

I'd check with Checker and they'd be like 2 weeks for some of that stuff.

Ha...I have an Autozone oil story.
One friday, on my way home from work, I decided to stop by Auto Zone for some oil...I walk in, and the place looks empty. I look around for a bit, and notice 2 people, off in a corner, giggling, and stuff...it's a "manager", and a young female employee...tooo busy to help customers....what ever...I'll go get my case of oil, and filters. Well, I couldn't find a whole case of the oil that I wanted, which was on sale......SO...I go looking for help....I interrupt the 2 lovebirds, and the "manager" says "ok...I'll go get you a case out back".
He rushes out there grabs a case, rushes through ringing it up. I pick up the case...walk out, and think...this doesn't feel right...the box is open, it feels too light, and loose inside.....I open it up and there's only 9 quarts....
I go back in....drop the case on the counter, interrupt the little flirt fest that was going on...and i said to the "manager"..."wanna try again?"... there's only 9 quarts in here  . "oh..huh..sorry...uh... ...he goes and gets me more oil....
There is usually 1 or 2 people per store who know what they are doing.

I have had better luck at Advance...I find there inventory better, and their prices too....could be because they are new in my area though.

Well luckily my brother works for a big parts distributor so I use him for brakes, exhaust, alot of other things, unfortunately they don't carry all things. He gets some things dirt cheap but oddly some things they don't carry at all. Thats were I have to go to these other places, plus I'm not going to bother him for the basic stuff.

You guys may not have them towards the Midwest or East Coast, but I have never seen dumber parts "people" than at a Schucks. They couldn't poor piss out of a boot. Very few of them are even somewhat competant, and I wont go back. Napa or Bumper to Bumper for chains, independants are generally the best although somewhat pricier.

Checker Schucks Cragen, all the same chain.

The Napa here has the worst service of all the chains most of the time. They only have 1 or 2 people on the front counter and the line is usually around 8-10 people long, making it take forever to get anything.

I have had decent luck with an Autozone in Queens. The manager chick there likes me, so I always get what I want.
