Dang, good thing you're okay!

At least spill the beans on the event! How do you claim fault?

And sorry to say, but an 04 v6 with bags deployed and 3 thoroughly fucked panels is most likely to be totaled.

Glad u are okay but it just feels weird to post about it so soon after it happened. Kinda has the "badge of honor" feel to it. Just my thought on it.

It was in the middle of an angled intersection. The other driver was across from me going straight, and I was making a left turn into the highway. But I made the left turn early because I thought their light was delayed(I don't know how to explain it). I have to go to court for an "unsafe turn" on Jan. 12th. I've never been in an accident before, and I believe I have full coverage. Anyone have any idea what insurance will say if the car is totaled? I'm trying to leave for the Air Force in March, and for some reason I feel this will set me back. I don't know what to do!

No badge for me. I'm ashamed as hell. I just want to show another example of how safe the LS is because I'm unharmed. It was a head on collision.

Sry to hear that man. Hope everything is ok. I don't blame your for shaking. Car accidents are a scary thing, esecialy when realizing that the baby you've spent so much time on is in a very bad shape.
Its good to be honest when knowing it was you that was t fault. Lighten up, things will go your way.

Don't let this delay you leaving the service. Contrary to what they tell you, there are plenty of jobs around and with the fafsa and post 9/11 gi bill, money is not short. I don't know how long you've been in, but if u enlist for a second time, chances are, you'll be in it for the full length. So dnt let this rattle your plans, weigh your options once this unfortunate event passes.

Thank you and everyone else wishing me well. I'm just praying for the other driver. I don't want to be the cause of putting anyone in the hospital, and around the holidays it just makes me feel worse.

This will only be first time I'm enlisting. I need to lose 5lbs by Jan. and simply pass the asvab and I'm gone in March. But now I guess I won't have the car that I still owe 10k on, so I guess I'll get a point on my license so fml. Everything just seems to get harder and the timing is just salt on the wounds.

Oh ok, I missunderstood. I thought you were about to leave the air force. Hey well now that youll probably not have much of an apetite you can loose those 5 lbs. ; )

Sucks but you will make enough money to replace it.

Active duty lower enlisted still makes a good 3 grand a month depending on rank.

It'll all be fine buddy... thats why we have insurance... An unsafe turn is way different than wreckless driving. Most likely the car is totaled (doesnt take much these days).... You've done everything you can for the other passenger (had insurance, admitted your mistake, and most important... prayed). Its all life lessons buddy.... Having a family member that caused a serious life threating accident, trust me. You'll be fine. this will be nothing in the big picture. I hope your correct on having full coverage, so you can go pick up something new before you deploy, if not, its cool. should be enough in the car to scrap or part to get you by in the mean time. Whats done is done, you can only do what you can. Keep being honest and keep your head up... you'll be back up going.... Cheers buddy. hope youll be fine.

The safety rating for the LS is one of the main reasons i bought it. I have seen a few accidents where the LS held up pretty good.

glad to hear your okay, i was in a bad accident a few years ago that was my fault too, its definitely scary going through but it will all work out in the end, and good luck in the air force, i've been in for almost 6 years now so let me know if you have any questions

not even close to that amount but still good money, unless married with kids..

It's good to hear your alright. Car accidents suck. When I was 16. 4th week of having my license, I flipped a 4 door jeep wrangler with a mom and a new born baby in the vehicle . (<4 months old) I couldnt stop shaking for the life of me. I wouldnt get in a car. It took me 2 months to get in a car after the accident . I Run up to the jeep, seeing a women screaming with blood on her face and a baby screaming bloody murder takes a huge toll on you. Trust me.

The important part is everyone is alive. Sucks to see another LS off the streets. But its better that its the LS, and not you!

Perhaps jumping the gun here. But check with state laws on who is to yield to who when making a Left on Green. I know Oklahoma's law was inverse of what it should be for forever. The law here used to state that the oncoming traffic is to yield to a car waiting to turn left (crazy, right?). There was a big case years ago where a guy killed someone doing similar to your scenario and he got away scotch free because it was technically the dead guys 'fault'.

So it may be worth checking, though Oklahoma is behind the times on everything so it is no surprise we just had this law corrected to the common thinking.

Glad you are ok, and the other people. Cars can be replaced. You might have to take some traffic safety classes etc. If you still owe money on the car it is most likely fully insured. Your ins will take care of the other guy, and should cover your outstanding loan... maybe minus a deductable. Make sure you call your insurance company. Ins adjuster will look at both cars, probably talk to you. You might want to write events/times down now for later, incase the other guy makes things up (got a witness?). Ins rate will go up, point on license etc. It will all work out. Short term it sucks, long term it's just another accident. Keep being honest, take the classes, be grateful it's not worse, move on.

If your not within standards or have taken the ASVAB yet I don't see why you think your leaving in March, could be longer then that depending on circumstances. This would be a great opportunity for you to grow up, learn great skills and get a education without paying a dime. Then regardless if you enlist again or not you have VA medical and the post 911 to further your education.

If you are truly going you have my respect, I think everyone should do at least one enlistment..I was Navy EOD for 6 years before being medically discharged due to a brain surgery,..

BlackLS06 Sucks but you will make enough money to replace it.

Stay commenting on what you know, unless he is married with dependents he wont see 3k a month till E-6. At best before taxes he'll see at most 1700 for the first few years.

Insurance will cover the other guy and you, up to the point of totalling the cars. However, unless you buy "gap insurance" it will not pay off your loan. The policies are against the value of the car, not what we owe on the cars.

OP: Don't worry too much, man. You'll overcome any challenges this puts in your way. Keep doing the positive things you've been doing and just deal with these things as they come up. I put a wallop on my first car, costing me a lot of stress and money, but it was all over with in a few weeks.

I made 3400 a month overseas as a single E4.

Ummm no. How about you relax and ask before you assume i dont know.

I speak from experience...6 years Army Field Artillery and did a combat tour in Iraq from 2009-2010 and this is what i made as a single E4 with harzard pay...take the hazard pay away and i was still bringing in over 3K.

Air Force makes even more as they get substandard living pay.

Even the privates were making 2500. When i went through basic training as an E1 i made 1200 per check.

glad nobody got seriously hurt.

i'm just toshing this out there, but a good way to make a few extra bucks if they total it out, would be to remove the latch from the center console (the actual release lever that allows the center console to open) and mail it too me!!!

Easy JVIP, calm the f down. no reason to jump on everyone or be negative. everyone is trying to relax Kraka... woosa buddy.

Sorry to hear about the accident, and I'm glad no one was seriously hurt. Who gives a :q:q:q:q about the car....pray that it's totaled. No one wants a wrecked car. Hopefully you have GAP insurance, they will only give you blue book on the car..... This is why I added $7,200 in coverage to my car.

I kinda guarantee you it's totaled. Mine had similar damage but on the drivers side and mine was an 06 v8 loaded with 46k and because both bags went off it was totaled. Yours being an 04v6 worth alot less it's sure to be totaled.

I had full coverage aswell and 3 days later I had a check for the amount that they appraised my car as being worth. Which was 20800 for me. But I was lucky and had all my receipts for my after market stuff and since mine wasn't my fault and my insurance people would have to get the money back from the other company So they didn't care how much they gave me Sonce it would come out of the other company's pocket so they gave me all the money I spent on aftermarket stuff aswell :).

You wre VERY lucky my friend... Most people I hear from have to FIGHT to get what the vehicle is "worth", or for aftermarket. The problem with mine, it's hard to get a receipt for custom fabricated parts... :(

Yea haha. I was extremely lucky in both my accidents. They called 5 local Lincoln dealers and asked what it would be priced at sittin on there lot an took the average. (we all know when a Lincoln dealer has an ls it's usually way over priced lol) so in both my accidents my car was appraised as more then it was probably really worth lol. ++ yea very lucky to get reimbursed for aftermarket.
