My continental is a 97 and has about 97k miles on it. The car seems to be idling a bit high. Sometimes in gear it will idle at 7-8 hundred, when in n or P it sometimes is 700 other times 1000. This is after the car is warmed up and has been running. Several times I've pulled in the driveway and the car is idling at 800 or 1000 in drive or park. If i'm not mistaken it was and should be more like 600 in gear and about the same in N or P. When I tried cleaning the iac I noticed the throttle body cleaner was dripping out the "top" I've cleaned mine on my 4.6 98 towncar and my 99 dohc sable. Neither had any type of leak like that. Could it be bleeding air all the time and harming economy/power as well as idle>

its possible its leaking... while not the cheapest part to replace, they are not that bad cost wise.. might be worth the piece of mind.

as far as effecting economy, ect... it really willl only effect the idle, or just as you come off idle.. once your off idle and driving on the throttle itself, any leak the iac may have will cause a minimal amount of change. Not to mention, the o2 sensors will feedback the actual air fuel ratio to the EEC, and it will adjust to the proper fuel feed
