I promise to nicer if you promise to be smarter.
I stopped by the shop today to see how the Mark is coming along. The mechanic said he can't get fuel pressure to the rails. We replaced the pump yesterday.

He can hear the pump running, and the motor turns over, but his FP Gauge reads 0psi at the rails.

Now, he's pulling the tank again.

Any ideas?

WARNING: DUMB QUESTION COMING UP...........

Have you swapped out the fuel filter for a new one?

:I He needs to check pressure right off the filter.Could be a kinked line from changing the pump,or a bad filter.
I have seen a hose come off a brand new pump right away upon running it the first time.
Could also be something like a fuel regulator problem.

Should it be a kinked line before or after the filter, would that mean replace the effected line assembly or can a new plastic hose be "heat shrunk" back on the existing plumbing?

Also has the mechanic verfied his test equipment? Simple mechanicall device yes, but who knows?

Update:

The Mechanic took out the tank again, and tested the pump while still in the canister.
Pump started pumping fuel.

Then, he put the pup back in the tank, and tried it again. Pump pumped fuel.

Now, he will re-check lines from fuel pump/tank to motor. He thinks one may be kinked.

Thanks for all your input. With any luck, she'll be out of the shop today! :D

I kinked my pressure line when I replaced the pump. i had only 2psi at teh rail, not much more at the filter. Took me 4 hours to figure it out - it was not all that bad of a kink either.

Yea, with the aluminum lines, it does'nt take much to kink them closed. Hope you get it figured out in a timely manner.

Update II.

Motor now runs great. I did the mods on the pump canister myself, and also wired the new pump. I wired it Black to white, and red to red... just like any other person with any electrical abilities would do. Well, that wasn't right. it had to be wired backwards, in order to run... Don't ask, I dont understand it myself.

Mechanic put everything together, (carrier, half shafts from Raxles, spindles, etc, etc, only to run into yet another snafu....

The rear rotors I got from Discbrakesareus, are about 1/32nds of an inch too small in the hub hole...IIRC. Tomorrow, I will have to take the rotors to my machinist and have him machine them as necessary.

And speaking of the rotors, Discbrakesareus had the WHOLE surface of the rear rotors powdercoated. Should I take these to a shop and have them turned, to take that powdercoating off? Please see pic for what I mean.

Thanks a bunch.
