Ballast or Bulb???

How do you know if you need a new bulb or ballast? Gen 2 What are the signs of a bad headlight ballast??

Bulbs usually go dim or flicker before they fail. If you need to test the ballast, connect it to the opposite working headlamp bulb.

Are you asking how you can tell a bulb/ballast is going to fail, or are you asking how to tell which has failed when your system stops working?

I just swapped out my Gen II headlight assemblies and my HID lamps have a connector.

Ballast and Bulb are seperate on the Gen2. I have a spare set right here.

Dude, I've got the ballasts and bulbs right here in front of my face. They are seperate.

I just installed my LSC housings today. However I had my friend mod my housings and put in Lexus H4 bulbs and ballasts. So I can get the bulbs cheap if I need them now and the one thing I noticed when it got dark tonight.

How much the old stockers SUCKED

The difference is truly amazing, huh? I could see EVERYTHING in my Gen-II. My Gen-I's lights have degraded to the point where I can't see 10 feet in front of me. It's getting dangerous.

just to throw a big wrench into everyones thinking, my buddy's early 97 LSC, had the square inseperable plug on his lights.

That square connector can be separated very easily. I installed several sets of 1st gen HID housings week before the MI meet and we reused the original ballasts. You have to pull the little cover, remove the blue sealer piece, and stick three pins in the clip slots. They come out like butter.

I know that J , I was just wanting to state that not ALL gen2's had the round connectors for the ballasts.
