batterty question

If I disconect my neg terminal on my batterty what will this do? will my memory seats with remote still work will my keyless entry still work, radio, etc. Will this reset the shift points, ecu? How long should i leave it disconected? I am adding a intake to my ls and it said to disconnect the batterty to clear it out. thanks for the help

It is very necessary to disconnect the battery when doing this so you don't kick on an engine light. You will lose all radio presets (clock, settings, etc...) and your memory seat presets. Keyless entry will be fine as well as the settings for your built-in garage door opener (if equipped). I had mine disconnected for 12 hours while replacing the valve cover gaskets and it is doing just fine. It actually seems to run a little better.

I dunno what year you have but my 03 with the nav option does not lose the radio or seat settings, it only seems to lose the shift patterns.
