Battery routing

What is the best route to run power (the positive and negative wires) from the battery to the engine compartment in a 2000 LS? What gauge wire would you recommend? Going to hook up an electric fan.

There is already a heavy feed running from the battery to under the hood. It goes to the starter and the alternator (where the power for the fan will be coming from anyway). There's a junction in the front right wheel well that would be a good place to tap the fan in (both power and ground are there). In fact, this is where the gen II electric fan power is connected.

and money as resistance increases with length and good think wire does cost a few pennies...
