Ok Ok, I know this probably doesn't belong here but Mark VIII Owners are some of the smartest people on this board :D So my question is what is the best radar detector out there? price isn't a problem since if it works good it will pay for itself I hear the Valentine one is the best but thought I would get some opinions before buying one.

I have had nothing but good fortune from my Cobra 7200 or somthing like that...12 signals, over 3 mile range on highway, never got a ticket...well i did but that was for a stupid thing (donuts, lol) but yeah...its only $100

Valentine 1. Expensive, but most effective. www.valentine1.com
The second best is Escort Pasport. Not as expensive or efficient, but close.
:iconcur:

The V1 is the best radar detector I've ever owned. I looked at Bel's version but it lacks the directional arrows indicating which direction the radar is coming from. I spent $399 and it's already paid itself off in less than 5 months. I travel on the interstate twice a day to and from work so it's been a very wise investment!

Anything out there to look for airborne traffic enforecers :) I got ticketed the other day and I was clocked from the air.

When I lived in Louisana they really used that technique. Basically they time a point on the road with a white stripe to another white stripe. I don't recall if Louisana State Police used radar from the air or not but I do know that on I-10 on the Atchafalaya Swamp Freeway they do use helicoptors to control speed. They'll get your estimated speed in the air and at the end of the bridge the smiling faces of the LSP will be greeting you.

the best one ive used and recommended to other and say it work is the
driving the speed limit detector..... :N

I think I'll stick to my tried-and-true 9mph over the limit. Cops don't usually give tickets unless there are points involved.

I have been through there before. I grew up ni Pensacola and made plenty of road trips to La and Tx. A very lonely stretch of road it is.

mine is the best I just think to my self " That IS NOT a Cop" And it works (some times)
I have a really good attorney that help too a Radar Detector does not help If your doing 130MPH for like 30 min. every day one way

How do you figure its a piece of crap?
It has consistantly won every single test it has been in since it was invented.
Some of the other ones have nice bells and whistles but the V1 is the best hands down.
Another company that most people dont know about is Rocky Mountain radar.Their products have been making waves as of late and suppossedly they have a built in jammer that doesnt allow the signal to get back to the radar gun.

V1 is fairly outdated (no real redesign since 1992), yet it offers the patented indicator that shows you where the radar is coming from.
Passport 8500 X50 is smaller, cheaper and supposedly more sensitive.
Beltronics x65 is also a superior unit according to recent tests.

when you say outdated do you mean the look? because it says on the site the look stays the same they just redesign the internals. Also do you have a link to the recent tests showing the Beltronics results?

They update it every year or so. The box stays the same. But I don't mind it. Because it is a perfect design.

I am guessing you personally own one Sifrino3, Are you satisfied with your purchase?
