I went to install a corvette style fuel filter/regulator on my '01 LS to support my 4.8l chevy swap and discovered that the factory fuel lines are a tiny 5/16". These would probably support the 4.8 in stock form and maybe through a cam swap but I'm eventually looking to go forced induction to get up to the 450-500 rwhp level but I'm pretty sure I'll run into fuel starvation issues at those hp levels. Definitely not good under boost.

My question is has anyone ever swapped their lines out for 3/8" lines successfully? I'm thinking of using the factory 5/16" line for the return and maybe running a new 3/8" line all the way to the pump. I slapped the new filter in place of the old one and ran a 3/8" to the engine bay like I describe just for inspiration.

I have about 50-60 feet of -6 and -8 SS braid in the mods I've put into my '02. This is primarily for the methanol delivery for the 'spray' system. I'll do all -8 from the new 'gas' pump to the engine when I get to that point. Teflon-lined SS braid is 'forever'.

I ended up running a new 3/8 from front to back and using the 5/16 original feed line as the return starting from the factory fuel filter location. I was worried mainly about the jet pump working correctly with this setup. I rerouted the lines in the jet pump module because I was running the returned fuel through it and the flow would be backwards. Reversing the lines should make the jet pump siphon the right way. This is still untested but theoretically should work if I have enough fuel volume and flow in the return line and if I routed it correctly. I did get a picture of the finished jet pump, I'll find it and post it up later for anybody who might be interested.
