Just heard the roof of the Metrodome in Mpls. just collapsed under the weight of all the snow we just got. pics will follow when available.
Not really, IMHO. The last time it collapsed was in '83, and it's going to be a relatively quick repair--basically, they cut out the damaged panel, slap a new one in there, re-inflate it, and it's good to go. If the Metrodome had had a conventional roof and they'd gotten enough of a snow load to damage it, the Metrodome likely would've been out of commission for months instead of days.Agreed on the construction of the dome, seems like a weak solution for a northern tier location.
According to a report I heard on the news, they were clearing the snow from the dome, but had to quit because it was too windy. I'm guessing they must not have had that problem last February. The funny thing is this storm only gave Minneapolis half of the snow we got last February in snowmageddon.
Let's see some more winter blizzard pics. For as bad as it's supposed to have been I'm not really seeing the photo documention you'd expect.
