Hi all,
Been awhile Abe has been being pretty good lately. 185000 and running strong. Well my wife was driving home and the fan shut off and she smelled electric burning smell. I searched posts and found the one about checking the crimps on the feed wire. Now tell me this the Orange is hot correct? I unplugged the wire from the module and put a ground on the black (with my test light) and brought a hot wire from the battery to the orange the test light lit up but the blower did not run is it toast? how much of a bitch is it to change>

Anouther strange thing is.... If the orange is hot, I put the fan on the had the wires unplugged from the blower then checked the orange with a test light no power.

I never replaced a blower motor but I would have replaced the jumper with the thick orange and black wire. Most of the time it's the jumper or the fan speed control module that's the culprit. Either way, I'm not that far from you and I have both.

What would be the way to test each of them? Thanks soooo much

Crap its killing me to be in Florida with no blower for air, and the defrosters when its raining. going to try to work on it again today, what would be a few tests to run please. (miss Jamie)

Crap find the time....Well progress is not going good. I changed the fan, the module that is under the fan (the one with the jumper wire to the fan)
and still nothing.

Tell me this please if the 1x1 plug going into the module from the AC control has a hot wire when the fan is on. My Test light has all of them dead. Is that a indicater of the AC control is out and I need to change that next? is it a bitch?

changing the ac control (eatc) is not difficult...I'm not sure what is causing your problems....check with NoLimit95 (Terry)...iirc he is very knowledgeable on this topic

you can easily run a check for your ac control (eatc)

self diagnostics of the EATC(Electronic Air Temperature Control)...

a. Turn ignition switch (11572) to RUN position.

b. Push both OFF and FLOOR buttons simultaneously, then press AUTO within two seconds.

c. NOTE: Display will be blank during testing.

After about 20 seconds, a code will appear in the window.

d. To exit the diagnostics function press the blue button. When the control assembly is turned back on, the A/C air temperature control door will self-calibrate for 20 seconds.

If no DTCs are generated as a result of the self-diagnostic test (88°F°C code is displayed), determine the symptom(s) and go to the Symptom Chart.
