Uh...I don't know what happened, I wasn't jamming insanely hard but all of a sudden my rear drivers 6x9 sounds like it is clipping. My LS is an 02 premium with the 12 speakers and 6 disc cd changer. It is driving me nuts I can't figure out how to pull the rear cover off so I can change them...even then I'm not sure if any 6X9 is a straight swap. Sheesh I just got this car and this happens! I like to bass out pretty hard, I'm thinking about adding an infinity 10" Basslink for just a tad more thump but I'm not sure if I can do it with my original HU.

Thanks again guys, and this sucks.

Welcome to the forum. I know you're new, try using the search button at the top for now on. But there was recently a post on this.

Then just pop the panels off. May have to wedge something in there to aide in popping the first couple plastic connectors. 1st time is a whore, it gets easier the more you do them.

Dual air vent at the top of the radio stack does just pull out / unsnap. Same with the surround for the ashtray.

Hope that helps.

neither one of those links show how to remove the rear deck 6x9s

those only show the 5x7 door panels

i wouldnt mind knowing either since one of my 6x9s is out, looking to replace soon

Whoops I didn't read thoroughly sorry. Try searching.

Removing the rear speaker pan: lay down in the trunk (itll be tight) get a socker wrench with and extention on it (not sure the size, did it a long time ago) youll find holes (roughly 7-8) and theres gonna be nuts in them unscrew them and the tray should fall on you :). then youll have the tray out and you should be able to get to and look at whatever your wanting. hope this helps a little

I have got this far, but I haven't been able to get the snaps off the top to access the top of the 6x9's to remove them.

Will infinity kappas fit and sound good with stock stereo?

Thanks guys I tried searching but I had no good results

If you didn't know.....

The rear deck speakers are actually just subs.

You oughta hear the bass my THX system produces!!!!!!

Well what 6x8 or 6x9 (will have to measure once I figure out how to get them out) are the best to use with factory amp?

Doesn't really mater. Only the low freqs will go to them.

if your going to add subs or a sub then just put some 6x9s back there and tape them of your rear door speakers (like i did, to bypass the factory amp) then install a line out convertor and run your subs off that.
If you decide you want to install a mid bass speaker and keep it hooked up to the factory amp.......then.....you pretty much have to listen around and decide what oyu like. i havent done that.
i did install 2 8" RF S1s in place of the 6x9s but it wasnt enough power and sounded like $hit. looked pretty cool. check the pics. (hope im not rambling im pretty drunk)
