Bluetooth module accessory power?

I just installed an iSimple InSeam ISFM2201 - which is an amazing little device for anyone looking to get bluetooth with their factory audio system. It uses your stock steering wheel controls to control your bluetooth, comes w/ a microphone for handsfree calling, and connects either via FM or AUX. Makes for a real nice stock feel, and allows full control of your phone for making/receiving calls and such.

Now on to the problem - I can't seem to identify which is the accessory power in the harness. I have an 03 V8 w/ the THX system, and following the pinout diagram I have, I don't seem to have any accessory power in the Ford24 connector. I tried all of them, and can only get power to the unit when I use constant on. Any ideas? Thanks guys!
 
It's there. Since you have nav, it's actually the retained accessory power lead, so it won't shut off until you open the driver's door and the key is off. I have the pin number and the wire color. I'll post it later today.
 
Looks like it's Pin 2? Didn't realize it was totally different on THX radios.

Yes, pin 2, gray/black. The main connector is the same physical connector, but the pin-out is very different.
 
I tried that one initially. Though in mine it's gray/orange. It's only supplying 10.7 volts, which isn't enough to engage this thing. All power in that harness is supplying 10.7.

Is there some kind of 2003.5 or something where the connectors are different on early 03's?

Gray/orange is the starter lock out signal. It is at +12V when the key is turned to start. With the key on (not at start) the voltage will vary somewhat dependent on what gear you are in. You can't use this one for power.

Yes, it's possible that the pin-out could be different on yours, as they did make some changes somewhere in the middle of the 2003 model year.

Most of what I am seeing is that this is a typical FM modulator setup. I have seen one or 2 references to an AUX input with using a Ford24 cable ?

Where did you get yours? It seems to also be discontinued.

Does this get transmitted via the SAT port or does it interupt the Antenna input and then broadcast out a FM station?
 
Version 1 is discontinued, but the updated V2 is not. Purchased it on Amazon but it was sold directly by the manufacturer.

The way I have it set up is to use the antenna, because that's the only way to get RDS data for song info and caller ID etc. if you prefer better sound you can hook it up thru sat port.

I wouldn't say it's a "typical" FM modulator set up, I've never seen one use the steering wheel controls for the bluetooth functions - i.e. I press "Voice" and it cues Siri.

Thanks. I think I see it on Amazon. I still am not seeing how the SAT setup is done (based on the on-line manuals I have seen), but I do like what you describe. I also have the THX. I have a PIE adapter, but it is a FRD03-POD and that may not work for my needs.

I may have to give this device a try. Quality is what I am after, so SAT input is what I want. voice command is not that important to me. If the Bluetooth streaming to the radio is CD quality, then that is my goal.
 
I'm not sure exactly how you add the RCA jacks, that's above my pay grade lol, but I know adapters exist to get RCAs into the factory HU. As far as quality, when using the RCAs the unit would transmit whatever quality MP3s or streaming you were using. i.e 128kbps would be minimum CD quality, and obviously streaming from Pandora and such would be less. It should sound a lot better than the FM route, which to me sounds acceptable anyways.

Joe - I can't seem to find switched RAP power in this harness. Any ideas?

It really should be there. Do you have a moon roof? You can pick up the RAP signal behind the passenger C-pillar if so.
